ANTI-DRUGS CAMPAIGN POSTER

I decided to create a poster on anti-drugs. Thus, I concept it in a way that it revolves around this girl who took drugs as she is too stressed.

I painted her and try to paint her looking pale and totally messed up. Adding tagline, 'Smoking the DOPE, won't help you COPE'. This aims to target teenagers to young adults who are currently stressed with the work loads, family problems, etc and make a careless mistake on taking drugs as the solution.

Typography: Simple, bold, red to emphasize the seriousness and acts as a warning.

MOTIVATIONAL POSTER: PEACE IS PRICELESS

The theme here is PEACE. And it's very broad. You talking about war, relationships, world peace? Well, yes, all of those are similar and I approached this in general.
WORLD PEACE. YOU CAN'T BUY PEACE.

I came up with a few ideas through sketches.

A dove is being used as it symbolises peace.

The reason why I chose to kept it simple is because the message is very important thus, I use the basic principle of design which is dominance and balance to focus more on the message.
RAINBOWDROPS CANDY POSTER
I've decided to approach this assignment through digital painting. Reason being it is candy product and also it's what I love to do.

I've experimented on different layout and this is the chosen one. So first, I drew a guy's face.

And after that, his body!

Add some candy in and make the package of the new candy.

And there you go, it's complete with text and candy-like font! =)

I think this is effective and one of my best work because this is targeted to young executive. They are still young, they need a break. The reason why I chose to paint a guy instead is because, guys are often busy thus, they need to take the time off and rest. That is why I drew a man wearing business suit promoting the candy.
DIGITAL PAINTING; FREEDOM

This painting is based on events happened in my life. I paint this to express myself and also at the same time, use this to motivate others. Thus, I've decided to make this a motivational and inspirational painting for one to remember. As I am into surrealism, I play around with metaphor to portray my message.

Here's my process:
I note down what I have in mind through mind-mapping:

Experiment on what I have in mind through sketches

When I've decided to choose on one, I started painting what I visualised.

Paint the body and add background to it.

Combine the two painting into one canvas.

Butterflies. Why, of so many out there I chose butterflies. First it is cliche/common when one hears about freedom, they thought about bird. Another thing is because butterfly have gone through a cycle and stages of life which is becoming a caterpilla, pupa, lava and after going through this, they finally turned into a beautiful creature and be free on their own.

And finally add tagline inside.

POSTER DESIGN

DIVERSITY for MICA
I've chose to work on performing arts because each traditional dance have their own unique and magnificent way of dancing. Dance, movement, it is so elegantly beautiful when you see it as a whole. Thus, I chose to work on dance and the tagline is 'Dancing towards DIVERSITY'.

Here are some guidelines I take to help me get started.

After I've gathered all these inspirations, I vectorise it and take just the silhouette of it and you can tell by the body gestures and posture which race and traditional dance it is. I coloured it based on the colour representation; indian - purple, green - malay, chinese - red, and caucasian - blue.

And there you go, the final piece.

NO DRINK DRIVE POSTER

STYLE: TYPOGRAPHY

This is when I experimented on different typefaces and how I can create objects just by using text. In this poster, I form a car hitting a pole which looks like a bottle of alcohol. Yes it is literal but the message is important. The audience have to know and understand it.

STAMP DESIGN

Progression of Singapore 2000-2010

I've decided to work on transportation in Singapore because everything else is common. And that taxis is one of the transportation that is fast and convenient. It have changes through the years. So I've took images of cars and try out the layout.
After that I vectorised it. It looks better as vector and that it is to keep it consistent.

And there you go, I combined it and make it more presentable.

MAGAZINE DESIGN

MAGAZINE COVER

TASK: Unleash your creativity - design a cover for a new magazine call “SMASH ARTS”.

Aims:
The title speaks of a different kind of creative work, one that breaks through the mundane and mainstream, and that attracts both conventional and un-conventional creative people.
Mindmap I did to brainstorm all my ideas. This is to help me broaden my mind and give me variety to work with.

The theme I've decided to work on is vintage. SMASH ARTS; yes, it sounds new, modern and high-tech. Artist paint on canvas, now artist can paint digitally. Since now, we are advance with technology, softwares are created to make wonders. Thus, I decided to work on more of that expect rather than literally having it visually. With a frame to represent canvas, the image that was painted come to live. It pops out. There's a star representing the artist.

Here are the chosen sketch that I've decided to rework on. I tried out different typefaces and create my own logo.

LOGO:
I make it simple so that it is recognisable.

Then I add in crack brushes and arrange it in a way it flows nicely together.

With this, I design the content page in a way that it is not cliche. So, I make it slanted but at the same time readible.

Followed by a 2 page article layout.
Normally, you see images is being boxed and it's straight. I want to try something different. Thus, I make it slanted. The middle image of the guy is where you put the featured artist face/ the artwork.
